Creative Treats X 0% Food Waste

Through innovative companies or government programs, it is becoming easier to donate food and floral from events. We have even written about it! This got us thinking, is 0% food waste for an event a lofty goal? What if those coffee grounds could create a tasty syrup? Those pineapple rinds used for piña coladas must have some flavor left in them! So how can this discarded food help to produce a 0% waste event?

With over 133 billion pounds of food wasted in the US each year, chefs and bartenders are using their creativity to discover ways to reduce that number. Reusing food waste not only provides your guests with a tasty treat but allows them to actively participate in the solution. Olmsted, a Brooklyn-based restaurant, reuses the strawberries steeped for cocktails in their soft serve dessert, seen in the picture above. Looking for more inspiration that 0% waste is obtainable? Browsing Trashtiki's online recipe platform for syrups, garnishes, and cocktails made from by-products makes sustainability look easy.

Many events tout environmental causes and do their part to reduce their waste, but how many events have you heard of that can say they produced 0% food waste? By incorporating small changes paired with the creativity of your chef and bartender, 0% is possible! And tasty!

Recycle, reduce, reuse!

How To Double Attendee Registration

You have an amazing event that 840 people registered for in 2016 but want to enhance your reach for 2017. How can you increase that number? This was a question PARTNER Productions conquered head-on this year. How did we increase 2017 registration to 1,540? We focused on the following 5 things:

  1. The early bird gets the worm - Send your registration emails out a few weeks earlier than last year. This will give attendees more time to view your event website, clear their schedule and register.
  2. Email often - We are all guilty of opening an email and forgetting about it. Why not send your attendees a little reminder? Start by sending 1 email a week, then 2 a week the month before your event and 3 emails the final week of registration.
  3. Optimization is key - Ever wonder when your contact list opens their emails most often? Email automation platforms like Mailchimp offer algorithms to help optimize send times, targeting your audience when they are most likely to act.
  4. Think outside of the box - Are there other contacts you could invite? Whether your event is open to everyone or a select group, including prospective attendees who were not originally invited will guarantee a spike in attendee registration.
  5. Eliminate basic questions - Overseeing the registration website and platform will ensure no detail gets overlooked. Wouldn’t you be much more likely to register for an event if you have all event details and an easy-to-use registration platform?

Focusing on these 5 steps will ensure your registration numbers increase, whether you are handling this in-house or hiring event production experts like PARTNER Productions.

Happy Planning!

Projection Mapping Transformation

PARTNER Productions

You have grand ideas to transform a ballroom (into anything other than a ballroom) but must adhere to venue regulations. No flame throwers? No giant fish tank? How do you get around these rules to create the ultimate experience for your guests? The answer is simple, projection mapping!

What is projection mapping? A digital way to project video on any 3D surface to create an interactive display. We do mean any surface! With the right equipment the side of a plane, a shoe, an air duct, even the Sydney Opera House can transform into your wildest dreams.

We Are The Oceans' (WATO) "Creating for a Cause" cocktail reception at ONE UN presented PARTNER with a creative opportunity. The goal was to show attendees the effects plastic pollution has on our oceans and motivate them into action. We teamed up with Bravo Media to create a 56ft x 3 ft projection mapped wall of the ocean. But we didn't stop there, plastic garbage added to the blue water projection made it impossible to ignore the problem of plastic pollution in our oceans.

Digital innovations have made tremendous leaps to help display your creativity. Instead of transforming a space by building something, projection mapping is a cost effective option. You are only limited by your imagination!

Happy Mapping!

Milk and Honey: A NYC Trifecta

As event producers we find parallels with the event industry everywhere we look. Anytime we eat Chef Daniel Humm's Milk and Honey dessert (which is more often than you might think) those parallels are strong. How does a savory and sweet dessert remind us how we translate an event idea across different clients and price points?

Well let's start with the basics, shall we? Milk and Honey is a dessert made with milk ice cream, honey, and dehydrated milk foam. Chef Daniel Humm offers a version of this treat in each of his restaurants as a homage to his childhood, drinking a glass of warm milk with honey with his mother every night before bed.

The bee pollen topped, honey-filled Milk and Honey dessert was an unforgettable ending to our 11-course meal at Eleven Madison Park (top photo). The NoMad Hotel's version with crisp honey brittle compliments the casually-elegant aesthetic of your dining experience (photo above). Everytime we taste that honey brittle, we know we are at the NoMad Hotel! The newest addition to the Milk and Honey trifecta came with the opening of Made Nice. This recently opened, highly anticipated fast casual restaurant put its own twist on the classic dessert, creating a soft serve version (see below).

Seeing, and tasting, how Chef Daniel Humm reinvents this ever-important dessert is a reminder to know your audience, reinvent, and most importantly, enjoy yourself!

Happy Eating!
